NPR - A Biometric Enrollment Plan
National Population Register(NPR) :- A Data Digitization and Biometric Enrollment in both Urban and Rural Population of 17 States and 2 United Territories.
The Government of India has introduced an unique comprehensive Identity Database-National Population Register by collecting required information of all residents in the country during the House-listing and Housing Census phase of Census 2011 during April 2010 to September 2010. The NPR to be maintained by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India (RG&CCI), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
There are various important project activities being performed under the National Population Register (NPR)
- House listing by enumerator,
- Scanning of NPR schedules,
- Data digitization,
- Biometric enrollment and consolidation,
- LRUR correction and validation,
- Deduplication by UIDAI and Issuance of AADHAR number, and
- Consolidation of cleansed data at ORGI.
Camps will be set up in different location for collecting datas from people.
The objective of creating this identity database is to:
- Support in better utilization and implementation of the benefits and services under govt schemes
- Enhance planning
- Enhance security
- Prevent identity fraud
